Which format should I pick?
FLAC or ALAC for lossless archiving, MP3 or AAC for the widest compatibility, Opus for the smallest files at good quality, WAV or AIFF if you’ll keep editing the audio afterward.
Does converting reduce quality?
Only for the compressed formats — MP3, AAC, OGG and Opus. FLAC, ALAC, WAV and AIFF keep the audio fully lossless.
Do my tags and cover art survive the conversion?
Yes, existing tags and an embedded cover are carried over automatically wherever the target format supports them — cover art included for MP3, FLAC, AAC and ALAC; tags only for WAV, OGG, Opus and AIFF.
Is my audio uploaded anywhere?
